Immersive Virtual Reality rehabilitation for stroke survivors
Why we invested
Stroke survivors often face significant challenges in their recovery journey, requiring extensive rehabilitation to regain functionality and improve their quality of life. Current healthcare systems struggle to deliver adequate rehabilitation services and have limited monitoring capabilities. Patients typically receive less than 10% of the recommended therapy hours, which is insufficient for effective recovery. Existing rehabilitation solutions only train a few aspects of upper limb function, lack a focus on rehabilitation quality, and are not trusted by clinicians. Additionally, the ratio of doctors to patients is too low to meet the increasing care demands, which are projected to triple every decade.
NeuroVirt is developing an immersive VR software designed to enhance rehabilitation by personalizing therapy that corrects improper movements and adjusts to the patient's progress. It features haptic feedback, fun and easy-to-use games, and remote monitoring capabilities, allowing clinicians to track progress without in-person visits. The system is hardware agnostic, working with various VR devices, and aims to improve therapy accessibility, delivering more hours of effective rehabilitation to drive faster patient recovery.
